Feeling Great Like ’88?

Round and Round we go. Will we make the Playoffs? I hope so! – Photo via buffalobills.com

OK Bills fans, it’s here! The 2015 NFL Schedule was released a few days ago. Preseason kicks off at home at the Ralph on Friday, August 14th at 7:00pm against the Carolina Panthers. The following week we’re just down the road as we play Cleveland at the dog pound. Week three brings us back home to face the Steelers and wrapping up as usual in Detroit against the Lions.

The regular season gets underway Sunday, Sept 13th as we open up at home against Andrew Luck and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have a revamped offense with the additions of Frank Gore and Andre Johnson. Week 2 brings the Patriots to town. Rex Ryan’s defense is tested early in the season as they face two of the best QB’s in the NFL. Week 3 we head to Miami for a 4:25pm face off with a revamped Dolphins defense anchored by Ndamukong Suh. Week 4 brings the New York Giants to the Ralph and a matchup between the two most electrifying rookie receivers last year. Week 5 sends us to Tennessee to play the Titans, A.K.A. “the Bills of the South.” Week 6 brings the Cincinnati Bengals to Buffalo, a possible flex game. Week 7 takes the Bills across the pond to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars and ex-couch Doug Marrone. I bet he’s glad he left his head coaching job to become a line coach. Kickoff in London will be 9:30 AM EST.  The Bills get the bye week after the London game as is customary in the League.

The Bills start the second half of their season in week 9 at home against the Dolphins. In Week 10 the Bills face the NY Jets in their Thursday night primetime game. It’s also the first of three straight road games.  Story lines will be plentiful in this game as Rex Ryan will be facing the team that fired him.  Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chan Gailey are partnered up again, but this time they will be wearing green and white. Then you have the weird Jace Amaro vs. Rex Ryan media-bashing making headlines. Jace has said some negative comments on how things were under Rex Ryan, and Rex has vowed to make him eat those words. Week 11 sends the Bills to Foxboro to face Tom Brady for the last time of the season. Rex Ryan’s teams seem to always play the Patriots tight, but is there enough talent on offense this year to finally turn the tables on Brady and Belichick? Week 12 wraps up the road trip with a game at the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills have dominated the Chiefs the last two years but have failed to walk away with a win. Can the Bills finally get that elusive “W” against Andy Reid’s team? Week 13 brings J.J. Watt and the Texans to town. J.J. Watt is amazing and single handedly helped his team beat the Bills last year. This game is a must to attend because J.J. Watt is probably the best defensive lineman to ever play the game, and they are going to need everything he has, even a passing touchdown!

The last four games of the season could be very important even though they aren’t divisional or conference games. Three out of the four are played against the NFC East teams and could help the Bills gain some ground in the standings if they flounder early on against inter-conference teams. In week 14 they head to Philadelphia to face LeSean McCoy’s previous team. I’m sure he won’t need any additional motivation for this game, so circle it on your calendar. Week 15 sends the Bills to the nation’s capital to face RGIII and the Washington Redskins. The Bills then wrap up the season with back-to-back home games. Week 16 brings the Cowboys to the Ralph from their cozy, warm, domed stadium to the frozen tundra of Buffalo just after Christmas. This game may have meaning for both teams and is a possible flex game. Week 17 wraps up the season as the Bills play the Jets. There’s nothing better than whipping the jets at home to close out the season and roll into the playoffs!

This schedule is the perfect schedule for a “playoffs or bust” -type season the Bills are in. There are only two quarterbacks that the Bills face that are top five in the league – Brady and Luck. Romo and Manning make the top 10 but are up and down with their consistency. Outside of those five games, every other game is very winnable as long as the team stays somewhat healthy as it has for the last two years and the quarterback play is just good enough. The amount of star power that we will see the Bills face is quite impressive. Fans will see Luck, Johnson, Gore, Brady, Manning, Beckham, Suh, Marshall, Green, Romo, Bryant, Witten, RGIII and the legend of Kiko Alonso! Not to mention the satisfaction of beating the Jets and Doug Marrone’s Jaguars in London. The Bills end up with two primetime games and the international game this year with the possibility of flexing several others depending how the season unfolds. Even with questions at QB, I’m pumped for this season; how about you?

Well, Bills Nation, what do you think? What are you looking forward to? How do you think the Bills will fair against these opponents? As always leave us some feedback on here or on Twitter @wgoinbuffalo or me @jasonsins. In the words of Bart Scott: “Can’t Wait!”
