2015 Buffalo Small Press Book Fair

The Buffalo Small Press Book Fair is a completely free event happening this weekend

Since 2007, Buffalo has been the host to a regional two-day festival dedicated to all things small press. Now in its 9th year, the Small Press Book Fair brings together everyone from poets, writers, zinesters, artists, authors, print-makers, and more under one roof at the Karpeles Manuscript Library to share their ideas and creative work with each other and small press enthusiasts. What initially started out as a one-day event founded by Chris Fritton (The Itinerant Printer) and Kevin Thurston has grown into a two-day affair for the third year in a row with 2014’s event boasting 140 vendors and almost 5,500 spectators. After a number of years under the solo direction of Fritton, Thurston has made a return to Buffalo to help out with this year’s Fair. The Small Press Book Fair may be a local event, but it draws the attention of participants and supporters from across the Northeastern United States, the Midwest, and even parts of Canada. The event is free and open to the public with open readings and workshops going on both days, but there will be plenty of vendors selling their various wares (a full list of those participating can be found here) along with food trucks parked outside for those looking to refuel. A complete schedule of events will be available as The Fair draws closer. The Fair runs from Noon – 6:00 PM on Saturday and 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum’s Porter Hall located at 453 Porter Avenue (right near Kleinhans Music Hall).
