Winter to Spring Transition…. Not a Moment too Late!

I think it’s safe to say it’s finally happening. Temperatures are on the rise, the snow is starting to melt and the sun is shining again! Winter is finally concluding, and now it’s on to Spring. I love Spring style. It’s not too hot, not too cold, and you’re able to start wearing brighter colors instead of only black and grey (Fifty shades to be exact!)

I started Pinning some great outfit inspiration today when it comes to seasonal style transitioning. Soon we’ll get to start shedding some layers and get rid of our oversized ski jackets and parkas. So, here’s some outfit inspiration (guys too!) and tips for when it comes time to start making the switch.

I always take advantage of the whole “spring cleaning” tradition. Seasonal transitions are the perfect excuse to start cleaning out your closet and making room for new wardrobe pieces. I put away a majority of my spring/summer clothes in big plastic storage bins. That way I have more room in my tiny closet for big winter sweaters and coats. I go through all of my winter clothes while putting them in the bin, and if I haven’t worn something during this past season, I’ll give it away. I always bag up my clothes and donate them to charity (Goodwill, Children’s Wish, etc.). If you find it hard to part with a more expensive item, there are also some consignment stores that will buy gently used clothing from you! (Ex: Plato’s Closet). You can also score great deals there too on brand name clothing.

Here’s a great source for how to style white pants.

This blog post gives great tips on how to get dressed in a complete outfit in 5 minutes or less.

I recently discovered that I have a love for jackets. My leather jacket was my best investment piece in my closet — so far. I found a great deal at the Danier outlet in Niagara Falls a few years back. Thank God my parents encouraged me to get it because I’ve gotten my money’s worth by far… and I always look at buying another one! My next investment will be a great denim jacket or a trench coat.

Liam Hemsworth could wear a paper bag and still look good!

In my mind, men can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans and a sweater or casual dress shirt. Denim should be a staple investment piece for men. You can dress it up or down or wear it with a t-shirt or blazer. I always live in American Eagle jeans; they have so many great fits for guys and girls!
