Hey Time Warner Cable – You Suck!

We wanted to hold off on this article Time Warner Cable, but you left us with little alternative. Where to begin…… well it all started this past summer. After watching my Cable go out time and again, it was thoroughly decided that a call needed to be placed and some sort of action be taken to fix my problem. A technician was sent to my home to determine the problem, and in all honesty he was fantastic. It was determined that something was chewing my cable line, and perhaps a better setup was needed. The gentleman answered our questions, all of them, and went out of his way to help us understand why we we’re having all these problems. He left and I felt somewhat satisfied, it didn’t last.

TWC5Recently in the last few weeks, my cable and internet have gone out multiple times, my internet as recent as this morning (those of you wondering how I could be on the internet??? Hotspot my friends). The last time that both went out was a week and a half ago, and the conversation that transpired could only be called comical. After waiting over 35 minutes, when I was initially told it would be a 7 minute wait, via live chat. I finally was able to get a TWC rep on  live chat and what I was told was mind bending. After inquiring why my service was out, I was told “I see that there is scheduled maintenance running to improve the quality of services”. Weird, I wouldn’t think you would:

  1. Run maintenance at 6 pm on a weekday.
  2. Cut out my service to improve the service?
  3. What the hell did that have to do with my internet?

Now those things notwithstanding, the answer to my next question blew my mind even more. TWC6

Now I’m not saying that it wouldn’t improve my services, but are you fucking kidding me??? You cut out my service which I pay over two hundred dollars a month for, so you can make it better? Major corporations hire IT people to come in at 3 am, to run these diagnostics and upgrades. At least have some common sense that 6 pm on a weekday which is generally considered prime viewing time may not be the right time to handle that.

My internet on the other hand went out for 12 hours, before it was fixed. I will say I was promptly given a $3.35 credit for lost service on the internet, but when I realized that I was paying over $90.00 a month for that service, I quickly became sick to my stomach. The price of internet and cable has gone up so much over the last few years it can easily make ones head spin. Add to it, that TWC basically holds a Monopoly over the city of Buffalo’s high speed internet, and that a proposed merger with Comcast could only strengthen that monopoly, and Buffalo had better watch out.

You don't want to see that 5th light out. It means you're screwed!!!!!

You don’t want to see that 5th light out. It means you’re screwed!!!!!

This leads me back to today, when the dreaded 5th light went out, and my internet went down. In the time that I have waited to speak with a live chat customer service rep, and there twitter help page, I have been able to write this article. Whether or not they fix this, and in all likelihood they will, and credit me, again which they will. Even with all of that, I have had it, DirecTV or the Dish will be getting my future business, as they should. I am sure a 3 hour call with TWC is coming up in which I will have to jump through hoops, and walk a trapeze wire just to end it, but it will be worth it. I urge you citizens of Buffalo, to do the same, or suffer the same bullshit that I have been going through for months. The only way to get their attention is to hit them where it hurts, in the pocketbook.

If you’ve had a nightmare issue with TWC, then please leave a comment, or feedback on the article. Thanks again, and good luck Buffalo, apparently we will need it!

My dvr goes out randomly. My SECURITY turns out w.o. warning. The tablet that controls the security says something is wrong every day. Camera turns off. 18Month contract. No money back, no real help fixing their errors. AND never received my gift card for upgrading to security with them. I can’t wait for my contact to end.

Hey – I can shed some light on the security problem… Time Warner uses VoIP technology – which digital signal that is condensed as it travels through to the receiver. That signal is (in a sense) rebuilt on the other end. This is why VoIP is so popular these days – it’s “light” and, subsequently “cheap.” (Which is why companies like Time Warner can bundle… ) A security signal is much heavier than a telephone or internet signal (due to the complexity and sensitivity of the information being sent). A security signal cannot be adequately reconfigured on the other end – so this is why you, like many other Time Warner Security customers, are receiving false alarms. There IS a fix! you need a digital communicator for your security system. Your existing system MAY be retrofitted, or, worst case scenario, your security company can replace the keypad or control panel to include a digital communicator. If your existing company can’t help you, call me – I’ll be happy to help you get it fixed. I work at SHIELD Security Systems – call me at 681-6677.

I also am dealing with this problem!! I 100% agree with your arguement! Hey you know its bad when people are sitting around at holiday gatherings and the topic is TWC and how outrageous everyones bill is and I believe the lowest bill at the table was $176 per month and we are talking about 10 families…. it is uterly ridiculous. I believe something needs to be done! But until then we suffer or do not pay! I tried switching but I couldn’t deal with the satellites going out during Bills games and never went back! Good luck everyone its only going to get worse until we ban together and try to stop this monopoly!!
