Fashion essentials you need in your closet

IMG_0744-1300x866We all have items that are a staple in our wardrobe. But, what are the “essentials?” This term can be identified differently depending on what field of work you’re in (i.e. if you’re a nurse, you probably have a closet filled with scrubs.) Regardless of job title or location, there are some staples that are necessary in a woman’s closet. Here are the top five:

1. Versatile Blouse: A white blouse is perfect for different occasions whether you’re wearing it to work, out to dinner or to a family gathering. It’s easy to pair different items with a white blouse such as skirts, cardigans or shorts to dress your look up or down.

2. Neutral Heels: There is going to be an event (anniversary party, work event, wedding, etc.) where you will need a pair of heels. Make sure they’re neutral (black, white, gray, silver) so they complement any outfit you’re wearing. Also, invest in a pair of shoes that are comfortable. If you can wear a pair of heels for eight hours without your feet hurting, you’ve hit the jackpot.

3. Blazer: Another staple every woman should own is a blazer. Aside from work, it’s great to have a blazer for spring, summer and fall because it can double as a weather-appropriate jacket. Or, if you’re looking to add a unique spin to your favorite summer dress, pair a blazer with it.

4. Denim (that works well with your body type):  I cannot stress the importance of finding denim that’s suitable and comfortable for your body type. Don’t worry about the size because it’s just a number. Search for different styles of denim that will flatter your shape. You’ll be thankful you took the time to do your research.

5. Little Black Dress: Last, but certainly not least, is a little black dress. Whether you’re wearing this piece to work, a restaurant or wedding, the little black dress will never go out of style. Make sure to find a style you love. If you prefer a loose-fitting dress, opt for an a-line black dress. It’s all about what makes you feel comfortable and confident.
