I miss the Aud so much!!!!

With all of the hype surrounding First Niagara Center because of the new HARBORCENTER, I wanted to throw it back this Thursday to what used to be there before any of this craziness, The Aud.

Back in the day, Buffalo’s Broadway Auditorium was the only convention hall in the entire city. In 1939, Buffalo decided to spend $2,700,000 replacing and revamping the auditorium completely. The Memorial Auditorium opened October 14, 1940 with 12,280 seats and 2,000-3,000 moveable floor-level seats. It was dedicated to soldiers who had died in the World War.

There was an opening ceremony for The Aud with a parade and a luncheon for Buffalo citizens. It was one of the largest celebrations that Buffalo has ever held.
