After watching and waiting with anticipation over the past year and a half, HARBORCENTER located next to the First Niagara Center will open its door on October 31st. The cranes will be summoned to some other destination by the end of next summer, hopefully staying in the Buffalo area. The hotel will be fully completed by next summer but other portions of the facility will open their doors.

Now we will reap the benefits of the Pegula’s, 172 Million Dollar investment in Downtown Buffalo. It will house a luxury hotel, two NHL sized ice rinks, two restaurants and a hotel along with a 750-space parking ramp. It will also host the NHL’s Scouting Combine and is in talks to have something to do with the USOC to perhaps have training at the facility.

John Koelmel, president of HARBORCENTER, said he expects the venue to be a major attraction to Canalside and downtown Buffalo. “We’re very focused on readying ourselves to open our doors at the end of October and excited to do so,” said Koelmel.

The facility will also house (716) Food and Sport, Tim Hortons, and talks are currently in place to bring a Pizza Planet down there as well. The hotel should be completed by next summer. It will be the jewel of the Pegula Sports and Entertainment Empire, as they now own both of Buffalo’s major sport Franchises.
