Lights flash and the guitar jangles a familiar flourish. The drums and the bass join in and they immediately find the groove. The crowd can’t help but start to move, and before you can say Sam Phillips, a pretty little blonde is being handily spun around the dance floor. The leader of the rockabilly revival that is Kickstart Rumble, Mikey P, steps to the mic and offers the word to his flock: “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, my baby and me went out late Saturday night…”

For the last five years, Mikey and the boys have been serving up your favorite gold standards, stretching from Cash to The Clash, to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and back. With drummer John Coco, Tony Lannone on the doghouse, Adam Schmidt on the keys and the addition of Evan Lipton on the saxomaphone, the band provides a frenetic backdrop for all of your weekend party needs. Equally at home at a county fair, dank BBQ joint, or South Buffalo dive bar, Kickstart Rumble is the gin in your tonic. The seven in your seven. The scotch in your scotch.

Alongside the songs you all know and love, KsR also has a bushel of original tunes, which have become fan favorites. For 20 years, Mikey P has been preaching to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Choir, and these original songs are soaked in the sweat of his passion for the music. Like a psalm set to a snare, these rockabilly prayers are sung to the heavens as a greased-up celebration of everything great in life.

On September 27, KsR will team up with Buffalo’s own Eye Candy Burlesque to bring an unrivaled performance to the Tralf Music Hall. The entire soundtrack to the performance is played by the band, while the girls tease their way into your hearts. There is nothing like this in Buffalo, so be sure you check this out.

On Saturday, August 23rd, Kickstart Rumble will loan their talents to VFW Post 7545 in the City of Tonawanda for their VFW Revival Concert with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. For just $5, you can help our veterans both locally and nationally and get your roots rock on at the same time. The event begins at 6pm and will feature 50/50 drawings, basket raffles, concession, and much, much more. Clear your calendar, and show your support for our servicemen and servicewomen.

Very cool! I’ll be camping this weekend or I would check it out. We should make sure we spread the word that this is this weekend!
