Buffalo Girl Gets Lucky… with Tickets to Artpark!

IMG_20140716_185542915 Buffalo Girl got lucky! No, not that kind… Twitter Lucky! Last week I won tickets to see Sara Bareilles’ Little Black Dress Tour at Artpark. And I even got to bring three of my ladies with me.

So how? Well, I follow Niagara Falls USA on Twitter! They are the official visitor information center for Niagara Falls and Niagara County. They post about upcoming events and other fun stuff in Niagara County. To stay up to date and maybe get lucky too, you should follow them! (@NiagaraFallsUSA)

Anyway, these lovely folks tweeted about the upcoming concert and were giving away tickets to two lucky winners who re-tweeted their tweet. Buffalo Girl did, and I actually won four tickets. Woohoo! Libby mailed me my tickets, and I rounded up my girls. Thanks, Libby!

IMG_20140716_200207998Gem, Sweetheart, Country Girl, and I all headed up to Lewiston for the concert this past Wednesday. We parked on a nice lady’s front lawn for $5.00, and walked over. We brought a couple of blankets with us and found a spot on the grassy hill looking out over Artpark. We had a great time laughing and catching up before the show started. Sara Bareilles came out and introduced her opening act – Hannah Georgas – which I thought was really cool and classy of Sara. Hannah was definitely worthwhile to see too. Expect to hear and see that name again!

There were also plenty of food trucks and food stands. Being the foodie that I am, that makes me a happy girl. Sweetheart got mozzarella sticks, and I went with a taco salad.

IMG_20140716_200151491And then came the rain. And man, it rained. Well, clearly none of the four of us were ever Boy Scouts because calling us unprepared is an understatement. Soaked fleece blankets. Soaked clothing. No coats. No umbrellas. No chairs. And Gem. Oh Gem, my Gem. Gem wore white pants – and not white underwear. (Feel free to shake your head and laugh at her expense, we all did). So, well, we didn’t make it through all of Sara which was disappointing. It wasn’t Gem’s fault though. It was a pretty unanimous decision when it got to the point that we were all soaked and shivering. We’d put in a valiant effort though.

We did catch the double rainbow! I’m not sure if you saw the pictures circulating on the Twitter-verse, but there was a beautiful double rainbow over Artpark during the concert. It was even the second double rainbow that I’ve seen this year! Foreshadowing good things to come maybe…? 14 has always been a lucky number of mine.

From the concert, we headed into Lewiston for a bite to eat, to warm up, and to dry off. We ended up at the Brickyard Pub & BBQ. I love me some BBQ. I love, love me some BBQ. Gem and Country Girl each got the Cajun Chicken Salad which looked fantastic. I got a salad with pulled pork. Lots of pulled pork. Lots of perfect, not-fatty, tender, juicy, perfect, pulled pork. Before you go and think: Buffalo Girl, you got a salad at a BBQ joint? I should add that Gem and I also polished off about a loaf and half of corn bread between us. And, uh, remember the taco salad that I had gotten about 2 hours earlier?

All of their salads come with nuts and I’m allergic so I asked for my salad with “no death”. Apparently, our server actually wrote “no nuts, will die” on the ticket, and it made their kitchen “ticket hall of fame”. So that’s cool. It’s the first, and probably the only, “Hall of Fame” I’ll ever be in, and at a BBQ joint? Seems totally fitting.

I wasn’t the only one who got lucky! For dinner, Sweetheart got a happy ending. Or, wait, I should clarify… she got the Happy Ending – which is one of the Brickyard’s desserts. This thing is publicly drool-worthy. It is vanilla ice cream with deep-fried corn bread all drizzled in honey and cinnamon. Yes, it looked as amazing as it sounds. Sweetheart was one happy girl. And I was one jealous girl.

IMG_20140716_185539233By the time dinner was over, we were all beat. Dry, but beat. We started our way back home to Buffalo and Country Girl promptly passed out in the car. Even though we were rained out, I was thrilled to win those tickets and am grateful to @NiagaraFallsUSA. What we saw of the concert was awesome! Sara Bareilles puts on a great show! And no, I don’t just think so because it was free. She really does. Maybe it was the fact that people stood out in the pouring rain, but you can tell that she truly appreciates her audience and wants them to enjoy her music. It also gave me a chance to catch up with my ladies – and them with each other. We shared lots of laughs (sorry Gem), lots of corn bread, and spent some quality girl time together. I even made the Hall of Fame. 😉

Well I totally enjoyed this to the point where I was both grinning from ear to ear and laughing at all of the wrongs that happened, but the fact that everything worked out great was awesome! 🙂

Hahaha! aw I love that! That’s great. Thank you so much. I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. We had fun, but I don’t categorize these as “adventures” for no reason, Lol!
